CyberBullying

CyberBullying

There are many ways that young people encounter Cyberbullying, including:

· E-mails
· Instant messaging
· Web site postings
· Chat rooms
· Online diaries

These means may contain insults, threats directly to an individual, or hateful, cruel comments. Some Cyberbullies create whole web sites directed towards individuals or groups.

Because most incidents of bullying occur away from the watchful eye of an adult, it’s important that young people are taught to protect themselves online and not respond to Cyberbullying among peers when they encounter it.

The most effective means of addressing Cyberbullying is through comprehensive education and awareness.

Community stakeholders such as, police, education system staff, parents, and general public, need to work together to put a stop to this form of abuse on our children and youth.

Cyberbullying is everyone’s business.
