Missing Child First Responder
Ensuring the safe return of a missing child
may be dependent upon the First Responder's training and ability to appropriately intervene. The actions taken by the responding
officer could make the difference between a positive outcome and a tragic result.
The Missing Child First
Responder course provides standardized training for First Responders of missing children cases. It aims to help
learners identify and confirm the different types of missing children and how to more effectively intervene in these cases.
Specifically, an introduction to the AMBER Alert Program is provided, as well as training in investigative procedures.
The
Missing Child First Responder course was developed in collaboration with the RCMP's National Missing Children Services, Justice Knowledge Network, Canadian Police Knowledge Network, Miramichi Police Force and the Atlantic Police Academy.
This course is available in English and French
from the Canadian Police Knowledge Network.
