Cyberbullying
The Child Safety
Research & Innovation Center (CSRIC) has partnered with the Miramichi Police Force and New Brunswick School District 16
to address serious issues for children and youth in Miramichi and the neighbouring communities served by School District 16.
One of these issues is Cyberbullying.
Cyberbullying is
a rising problem in today’s society. While most online interactions are positive, there are some kids that use the Internet
as a means of antagonizing, threatening, and intimidating others.
Unlike regular schoolyard
bullying, Cyberbullying has more of an anonymity issue that makes it harder to track. Young people are more apt to say things
online that they would never say in a face-to-face situation. Cyberbullies are more removed from their victims because of
this anonymity.
